ITL Teaching Fellow Awards/Application
The Advisory Board of the Institute for Teaching and Learning
is soliciting nominations from senior faculty and academic
administrators for the 2010-2011 University of Connecticut
Teaching Fellows. The nominees for this award are limited to tenured full-time faculty.
It is intended that up to two such Fellows will be honored
and each awarded a stipend of $2,000. The funds are to be used
at the recipients' discretion with the single restriction that
they be used in support of their instructional programs. The
Fellows will be presented at an, as yet unannounced ITL occasion, and their medallions will be awarded during the 2010 undergraduate
commencement activities. Teaching Fellows engage in a number
of teaching and learning activities including participation
in workshops developed by the Institute for Teaching and Learning,
allowing teaching assistants to visit their classrooms, and
serving as mentors for faculty in their discipline or cognate
areas.
Nomination Information
The nomination
form will be available for electronic submission. Please go to the ITL Home page, For Faculty (under grey ribbon bar), Awards.
The structured nomination form captures the essence of the
faculty member’s scholarship with respect to teaching
and is formed to allow the essentials of the nomination to
be gathered in a minimum of space.
It is suggested that the nominator prepare a cover sheet outlining
the case in broad terms while adding particulars in the format
of the nomination form. Some of the sections ask for the candidate's
details and it is expected that the candidate will provide
those to the nominator.
For further information, please contact Denise Irmscher at the Institute for Teaching and Learning, CUE Building, Room 331A (860-486-2272).
